Have you ever wondered what should or
should not be in your carry-on? Yes, we have all been there. I would like to
take this opportunity to talk about what you should NOT pack in your carry-on.
Typically, a carry-on should not weigh over 7 kg, some airlines are stricter
than others. The weight limits become more important when you fly low-cost
airlines because oftentimes, passengers flying budget airlines try to avoid
extra costs of load their luggage. This means they would have to pack
everything into 7 kg carry-on, and this is can be quite challenging if you have
many liquid toiletries. From many years of travelling, I have seen travellers
packing banned products in their carry-ons, and here are some of the most
common mistakes.

1. Weapons & Sharp
Tools
Oftentimes, we associate weapons and sharp
tools with machine guns and swords, but we fail to realise that smaller
everyday life items such as the Victorinox portable knives, nails clippers, and
toiletry scissors are considered sharp tools too. So, if you have these
products in on carry-on you will pretty much be forced to throw them away
during the security check. This will not only waste your time, but also waste
your money since you will have to buy these items again later. To avoid this, put them in your check-in luggage or do
not bring them at all. Nail clipping can wait for a couple of days, right?
2. Dangerous Goods
Dangerous goods often refer to flammable
items such as lighters, hair spray, dry shampoo and deodorant. It is easy
forget about these items because they are every day products. Please check your
bags thoroughly to avoid being stopped at the security, or you will be asked to
throw these items away.
3. Power Banks
The past couple of years, power banks
(portable chargers) have gained popularity due to the extensive consumption of
communication technologies such as smartphones and tablets. Instantly uploading
and sharing our holiday photos have become the norm. Today, we can travel with power
banks, but note that you are only allowed to take them in your carry-on,
and with mAh limitations. This means, if your power bank can contain up to
20,000 mAh, you can bring as many power banks as you would like, but if your
power bank can contain up to 20,000-32,000 mAh, you will be limited to only 2
power banks per carry-on. Any power bank exceeding 32,000 mAh is
forbidden.
4. Liquids
Actually, you can bring liquids with you,
but the rule is that your container cannot contain more than 100 ml. I
specifically said container because security does not care if you only have 10
ml of lotion remaining in your bottle, but as long as your container says
anything higher than 100 ml then you are in trouble. Let’s say all our liquids
are within 100 ml limit, in that case, all your liquids combined cannot exceed
1,000 ml per passenger. To pass security faster, please put all your liquids
into a single transparent plastic zip bag.
Those are the regulations, now for examples.
When referring to liquids, travellers instantly think of toiletries and
cosmetics, but we fail to think about drinks, baby food and medicines. These
items are also banned, so if you have a special medical prescription, please do
not forget to get your special permission. Make sure to research before you
travel to avoid delays.
Souvenirs can sometimes be considered liquids
as well, such as snow globes. Since the liquid in snow globes are not something
we often think about. Besides, who would have known if the snow globes exceed
100 ml? To avoid disappointments, better pack your snow globes in the check-in
luggage.
5. Coconuts
Yes, I have seen passengers try to bring
coconuts on board before. It was actually during my recent trip to Hainan,
China. Usually, it is okay to bring fruits when you travel, but coconuts contain
liquids that surely exceed 100 ml.
Next time when you travel, please make sure
to check your luggage before to avoid complications at airport security. In
case of any uncertainties, try to find more information and do a little bit of
research for a smoother travel experience.

เชื่อว่าหลายคนมีคำถามอยู่ในใจว่าเวลาขึ้นเครื่องบินเราจะแพคอะไรใส่กระเป๋าได้บ้าง
วันนี้แพมมีตัวอย่างของต้องห้าม และของที่ไม่แนะนำให้ใส่ในกระเป๋า carry-on (กระเป๋าที่ถือขึ้นเครื่อง)
มากฝากกัน โดยส่วนใหญ่สายการบินจะอนุญาตให้กระเป๋า carry-on
มีน้ำหนักไม่เกิน 7 กิโล ซึ่งกฎนี้จะเคร่งครัดมากเป็นพิเศษเวลาบินสายการบินราคาประหยัด
(low cost airlines) เพราะหลายครั้งผู้เดินทางอยากจะประหยัดโดยการไม่จ่ายเงินค่าโหลดกระเป๋าใหญ่ใต้ท้องเครื่อง
ทำให้ต้องแพคของทุกอย่างให้อยู่ในกระเป๋าเล็กไม่เกิน 7 กิโล
ซึ่งแน่นอน ของใช้เวลาเดินทางมักจะต้องมีของเหลว เช่น ครีมต่างๆ
และของใช้อื่นๆที่ทางสายการบินไม่อนุญาตให้ถือขึ้นเครื่อง ผู้เดินทางจึงต้องวางแผนในการแพคของใช้ที่เป็นของเหลวอย่างระมัดระวังเพื่อไม่ให้เกินความจุที่สายการบินอนุญาต
เป็นต้น แต่นอกจากของเหลวก็ยังมีของประเภทอื่นที่ห้ามนำขึ้นเครื่องเหมือนกัน เรามาดูรายละเอียดกันเลยว่ามีอะไรบ้าง
1. ของมีคม
อาวุธ และของมีคมเป็นสิ่งที่ต้องห้ามในการพกขึ้นเครื่อง แต่ของมีคมไม่ได้จำกัดอยู่เพียงอาวุธใหญ่หรือมีดเล่มใหญ่เท่านั้น
อย่าลืมว่ามีดพกขนาดเล็ก อย่างมีดพับสวิส (Victorinox) กรรไกรตัดเล็บ และกรรไกรเล็กๆ เช่น กรรไกรตัดขนคิ้ว ก็เป็นของมีคมที่ไม่สามารถใส่กระเป๋า
carry-on ได้เช่นกัน
หลายคนจะชอบลืมนึกถึงของมีคมชิ้นเล็กเหล่านี้ และเมื่อไปถึงขั้นตอนการตรวจ X-Ray เจ้าหน้าที่ก็จะไม่ให้ผ่าน
และบังคับให้คุณทิ้งของเหล่านี้ไว้ที่สนามบิน ทำให้ไม่ได้ใช้
แล้วยังต้องไปซื้อใหม่อีก
2. วัตถุอันตราย
วัตถุอันตราย หมายถึงวัตถุไวไฟ และ วัตถุระเบิดต่างๆ ที่อาจจะทำให้เกิดอุบัติเหตุร้ายแรงได้
จึงเป็นของที่ต้องห้ามเด็ดขาด ไม่ว่าจะเป็นกระเป๋า carry-on หรือ
กระเป๋าใหญ่โหลดใต้เครื่องบิน ตัวอย่างของอันตรายที่มักจะพบเห็นนักเดินทางถือติดตัวไปอยู่บ่อยครั้งก็คือ
ไฟแช็ค ยิ่งถ้าเผลอติดยี่ห้อ หรือรุ่นที่มีราคาแพง แล้วต้องทิ้งตอนตรวจสัมภาระจะน่าเสียดายมากๆเลย
3. แบตเตอร์รี่สำรอง (Power Bank)
ปัจจุบัน Power Bank ถือเป็นของสำคัญติดกระเป๋าในชีวิตประจำวันของหลายๆคน
แต่อย่าได้ลืมติดกระเป๋า carry-on โดยไม่ได้เช็คความจุก่อนล่ะ
เพราะทุกวันนี้ผู้โดยสารสามารถนำ Power Bank ใส่กระเป๋าถือขึ้นเครื่องได้ก็จริง
แต่ตัวแบตเตอร์รี่จะต้องมีความจุไม่เกิน 20,000 mAh หากเป็นไซส์นี้จะพกไปกี่ก้อนก็ได้
แต่หากแบตเตอร์รี่มีความจุตั้งแต่ 20,001-32,000 mAh จะสามารถนำขึ้นเครื่องได้ไม่เกิน 2 ก้อน และหากแบตเตอร์รี่มีความจุมากกว่า
32,000 mAh ทางสายการบินจะไม่อนุญาตให้นำขึ้นเครื่องในทุกกรณี
นอกจากนี้อย่าลืมว่า Power Bank ได้รับการอนุญาตให้ถือขึ้นเครื่องเท่านั้น
ห้ามใส่ในกระเป๋าโหลดใต้ท้องเครื่องเป็นอันขาดไม่ว่าจะความจุเท่าไหร่ก็แล้วแต่
4. ของเหลว
ของเหลว จริงๆแล้วสามารถขึ้นเครื่องได้ แต่ในปริมาณ 100 ml ต่อบรรจุภัณฑ์เท่านั้น
โดยของเหลวทั้งหมดรวมกันในกระเป๋า carry-on จะต้องไม่เกิน 1,000 ml ต่อผู้โดยสาร 1 คน และเพื่อความสะดวกรวดเร็วในการตรวจสัมภาระของเจ้าหน้าที่สนามบิน
แนะนำให้แยกขวดของเหลวทั้งหมดใส่ในถุงพลาสติกใสใบเดียว
เมื่อพูดถึงของเหลว หลายคนจะนึกถึงของใช้ส่วนตัวในห้องน้ำ หรือเครื่องสำอาง
แต่บางทีจะลืมนึกถึงเครื่องดื่ม อาหารเด็ก และยา ซึ่งตามกฎแล้วโดนให้ทิ้งแน่นอน
แต่ในกรณีเป็นยา จะต้องมีเอกสารยืนยันเป็นกรณีพิเศษ ก่อนเดินทางแนะนำให้หาข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมเพื่อความแน่ใจก่อน
นอกจากนั้น ของเหลวอีกอย่างที่นักท่องเที่ยวมักจะลืมก็คือลูก Snow Globe (ลูกแก้วที่มีน้ำอยู่ข้างใน
เขย่าแล้วเหมือนมีหิมะตกอยู่) ที่ตั้งใจซื้อกลับมาเป็นของที่ระลึก หรือของฝาก
ถึงลูกแก้วเหล่านี้จะไม่ใช่ของที่เปิดใช้ หรือกินได้
แต่ก็ถือว่าเป็นของเหลวที่ห้ามนำขึ้นเครื่องอยู่ดี
และส่วนมากก็ไม่รู้ด้วยว่ามีความจุเท่าไหร่ เกิน 100 ml รึเปล่า
เพื่อความแน่ใจควรแพคลูกแก้ว Snow Globe ใส่กระเป๋าใหญ่โหลดใต้ท้องเครื่องดีกว่า
ปลอดภัยที่สุด
5. มะพร้าว
ผลไม้ปกติทั่วไปสามารถนำขึ้นเครื่องได้ แต่อย่าลืมว่าผลไม้บางชนิดมีส่วนที่เป็นน้ำอยู่มาก
เช่น มะพร้าว มีครั้งหนึ่งเคยเจอนักท่องเที่ยวที่เกาะไห่หนาน ประเทศจีน
ซื้อมะพร้าวใส่ถุงมา 2 ลูก
เหมือนว่าจะนำขึ้นเครื่องกลับไปเป็นของฝากคนที่บ้าน แต่โดนเจ้าหน้าที่ตรวจสัมภาระที่สนามบินสกัดไว้ไม่ให้ผ่าน
เพราะในลูกมะพร้าวมีน้ำซึ่งเป็นของเหลวเกิน 100 ml แน่นอน
